On 4 May 2017 you will elect a regional mayor in a supplementary vote election.
Combined Authorities bring together local authorities across a city region or county area. These Combined Authorities will be headed by a Combined Authority Mayor. Together the Mayor and local authority leaders make up the Combined Authority cabinet. They can make collective decisions across the area about services such as transport, strategic planning and skills provision and will have control over long term budgets from central government.
To vote in a mayoral election you must be:
- 18 years of age or over on polling day
- a British citizen, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of the European Union
- resident in the UK
- not be subject to any legal incapacity to vote
