Full statement

Born & raised in Deptford SE8, I’ve lived in Lewisham for over 35 years. Lewisham isn’t just my home, it’s in my DNA! Lewisham has always been a Labour stronghold, but unfortunately they have now become complacent & are taking us for granted. It’s not good enough to just not be Tory if the alternative is just more of the same but in red. The role of an MP is to represent the constituents & be our voice in Parliament, but Labour are no longer doing that. We deserve better. We deserve a change. So I’m standing to be that change! I’m not a career politician & this isn’t just a job or stepping stone for me. I’m someone who cares deeply about our community & will do all I can to make sure the needs of our community are put first. I’ve spent the last 10 years campaigning around the issues of racism in policing, deaths in police custody & following police contact. I have used my platform & privilege to amplify & empower the voices of others & hold those in power to account. I’m asking you to lend me your support on July 4th to enable me to continue doing that. If we want politics to be done differently, we have to start voting differently. Let’s end the two party duopoly & join me so that together we can make sure Lewisham’s interests are represented properly!
