His particular specialism is with the housing field including social housing and privately rented housing. The current Dorset Council’s work on the provision of truly affordable housing has been woeful with the result that the housing waiting list has grown significantly and there are now around 400 households in temporary accommodation including hotels. Gerald’s other areas of concern include: • the need to attract new investment to Blandford town centre; • the apparent failure of the Dorset Council to ensure that proper new facilities and infrastructure are provided in tandem with new housing developments in and around Blandford; • the continuing pollution of rivers and streams by the private water companies is a national disgrace - action should be taken by the Council using its public health policies; • the lack of meaningful public accountability by the cabinet style of government which the Dorset Tories are operating to the detriment of Dorset people and communities.
