Statement to voters

Former MP in South Shropshire, Matthew Green, will be standing for the Lib Dems once again at the forthcoming General Election.

Full statement

Matthew (53), was born, bred and educated here in Shropshire.

Matthew replaces local champion Chris Naylor, who sadly had to stand down after suffering a health setback.

Matthew Green is the only person to have beaten the Conservatives here at a General Election – and he’s ready to beat them again.

“When Chris Naylor sadly had to, for health reasons, step back from being the Lib Dem candidate, many people asked me to put myself forward. They did so because they know I am the best chance of ensuring that South Shropshire does not return a Tory MP, as I am the only person to have beaten the Tories here at a General Election,” said Matthew.

He added, “From conversations with local residents on doorsteps over the past couple of years, it has become clear that the overwhelming mood of the electorate is to see this shameful Conservative Government removed from office.”

This statement was last updated on May 28, 2024.

This statement was added by Matthew Green, their team, or by a Democracy Club volunteer, based on information published by the candidate elsewhere.
