Statement to voters

I have lived in High Wycombe for over 35 years and have built strong ties within our community.

Full statement

I have devoted my time to serving the High Wycombe community in various capacities. As a Councillor for Ryemead and Wycombe Marsh for eight years and Mayor of High Wycombe, I have had the privilege of representing the community and delivering many projects. Additionally, I have served as a Parish Councillor for five years, deepening my understanding of local governance and community needs. I have been actively involved in the local charity sector. In 2020, I co-founded Wycombe Food Hub, a vital initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity in the area. I also run the annual “Wycombe Santa” Sleigh and the Enchanted Wonderland Santa Grotto in High Wycombe, bringing joy to families during the festive season.

Local Achievements I am proud to have championed and been involved in numerous community projects and initiatives, including: Delivered the Wycombe Marsh village sign.

Fundraised £500,000 to establish the Wright’s Meadow Community Centre.

I assisted WISE secure planning approval for their religious centre Played a role in saving and reopening the open-air swimming pool on The Rye.

Stopped the closure of Lynton House doctor’s surgery. Raised over £35,000 for One Can Trust and Child Bereavement UK during my mayoral term in 2013/14.

Established the Wycombe Santa Sleigh in 2013, which still visits local communities and supports Micklefield Community Centre, Marsh RBL, Sea Cadets, and the Church of Shalom.

Along with Cllr Khalil Ahmed we established the Wycombe Food Hub which stops waste food and repurpose it to feed over 700 people a week set up a community Fridge which makes free food available to the homeless each day Along with Khalil Ahmed started the campaign for the establishment of High Wycombe Town Council.

I have served as a school governor for Wycombe Marsh First School. Each year I organise the Annual Burns Supper. This year it was in Wright’s Meadow Centre Run many fundraising events across Micklefield and Wycombe Marsh in the Community Centres Currently working with Micklefield Community Centre, Church of Shalom, Wright’s Meadow Centre and Marsh RBL to support those facing food insecurity Xmas 2014 distributed Christmas hampers to families in need across Wycombe Marsh and Micklefield.
