Full statement
My extensive experience working in mental health has provided me with in depth experience of and opportunities to advocate on key expressed concerns of people, impacting on quality of life.
Such as transport issues, quality of housing, access to the right healthcare, access to appropriate social care, access to legal, financial and employment advice for a diverse demographic.
Throughout my life I have been a passionate advocate for the wellbeing and rights of others. I have served as a parish councillor in the Anglesey ward working hard engaging with Anglesey residents. Through scrutinising planning applications, supplying grants to support the invaluable work of Burton charitable and community organisations. I have initiated and am currently collaboratively developing a joint project with ESBC to enhance Anglesey Community Park, enhancing this community facility and local biodiversity.
Towards enhancing the lives of Burton residents through consultation and collaboration as part of the local community, serving the local community.
Local democracy is enhanced throughout hands on, committed, collaborative approach to smart community based solutions to central issues impacting directly on the local community.
There are many vital issues to be addressed. The closure of essential infrastructure such as the Branston bridge and short term fix under the county council, the chronic long-term presence of potholes, inadequate affordable housing provision, and the need to ensure new housing estates are future proofed with renewable energy resources and adequate facilities to service these new estates.
As a County Councillor I would push for further investment to aid maintenance and development in the Burton area, more sensitive to local needs, to recover from many years of neglect by out of touch authorities. These are all significant problems that are essential to work towards more positive solutions.
If elected I will be a dedicated and determined advocate for specific, targeted and measurable action, and scrutiny, regarding the significant issues relevant to the needs of the residents of Branston and also the wider Burton area, have expressed are your priorities for your quality of life.
