Statement to voters

I was born in the West Midlands and moved to Oxford as a teenager.

Full statement

I did my ‘A’ Levels at Oxpen’s College and a Masters at Oxford Brooke’s University and went on to qualify as a Building Surveyor. I love walking in the beautiful Oxford countryside and admire its history and architecture.

I have worked in local authorities for over 20 years in a number of roles, including head of service positions and infrastructure project management in the UK and South Africa. With this invaluable insight and experience in the workings of local government, I feel that I would hit the road running if I were elected as Councillor.

The Oxford community is very dear to me. I believe in giving back to the city that has given so much to me. To this end, I work with local schools providing work experience to students and apprenticeships to youths. I want our youth to develop useful, practical skills to enable them to succeed in their future endeavours.

I’ve run businesses in Oxford for nearly a decade and have developed a good understanding of the needs of businesses, especially in the property and motor industries, that are a crucial part of our local economy in Oxford. As a businessman myself, I want to see our local businesses thrive without the damaging effects of LTN and transport restrictions unnecessarily placed on them by the current council.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) are damaging our community and need to be abolished. Removing LTNs is one of my top priorities. They affected me on a personal level, delaying frequent hospital trips when my father was ill. They adversely impact high street businesses, many of which have suffered considerable losses as a direct result of LTNs. I take this matter seriously and am well placed to tackle it by proposing pragmatic, more cost-effective solutions that will better serve our community and businesses.

I’m passionate about green and sustainable transport solutions. I engage with Parliamentary Net Zero conferences and can integrate learning points to benefit the community in Oxford. With my extensive knowledge of the EV sector and my commitment to greener transport, I’ve set up the first EV micro-mobility business in Oxford and hope to expand this on a national level.

*My pledge if elected as Councillor:*
•remove LTNs
•develop sustainable transport solutions
•encourage apprenticeships
•truly represent my constituents

I hope to be elected as your Councillor as I will make YOUR voice heard. YOUR community is my community. YOUR business needs are mine too. When YOU have transport issues, it affects me too. Put me in a position with a voice and I will use it for YOU.

*Beyond a few core values of the Oxford Independent Alliance, I am free to act in your best interests.* *We are people worth voting for!*
