Statement to voters

My name is Paul Sims and I live in Greater Leys.

Full statement

I have lived in Greater Leys for almost 23 years now, having been a resident since the estate was built in 1995. I chose to live in Oxford as it is a place I have always loved, having first come here in the early 1980s. I have worked in the entertainment industry all my life and I love it, its likely many have seen me in and about Oxford at various venues either DJing or running Karaoke nights. My wife was born and raised in Oxfordshire and is supportive of my wish to become a councilor so as to be able to help our local community.

Labour see Blackbird Leys as a safe seat and have done little for the community. Show them Blackbird Leys matters and vote for Paul Sims. Someone who will champion local issues and causes.

MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT.

Bullet Points:

1. Ensuring Roads Are Repaired And Maintained.
We all know how bad the roads get in Blackbird Leys. I will push for action to be taken to repair and maintain the roads making them safe for drivers and cyclists.

2. Tackling Crime.
I know people are concerned about drug dealing in areas where there are children. I am against vigilanty approaches to this as I think it makes the situation more confrontational. I will however work with the police to make areas such as parks, schools, community centers and shopping areas no go places for drug dealers. That way parents can feel safe letting their children go to such places. I will also work with the police to help deal with other crimes as well.

3.Anti Social Behavior.
Anti social behavior affects everyone and can ruin communities. I want to help tackle this within the council and also with the local police. I want to make people responsible for their actions. Oxford has a housing crisis and if people want to be anti social then I believe they do not want to be part of the community. There are plenty of people wanting homes who would appreciate having a home and not be anti social. I feel anti social behavior is one of the major issues of our time and should be dealt with firmly so that it is clear it is not acceptable.

4.Dealing With Parking Issues.
We all know parking is an issue in Blackbird Leys. I would like to see more off road parking spaces built for residents and their guests. I would also like to see much tougher action on illegal parking so as to free up roads. Currently parking enforcement seems to be non existent in Blackbird Leys and i would like to change that for the benefit of the whole community.

5. Unscrupulous Landlords.
I will work with others within the council to bring homes up to a decent living standard. Landlords who do not keep homes in a safe condition and exploit tenants will be held to account so that people have homes they can live in safely.
