Statement to voters
‘’I’m proud to stand for re-election in Kenton Ward where I’ve been a local councillor since 2002.
Full statement
I’m a governor on the city’s adult education service and a trustee on the Kenton Park Sports Centre. I’ve been a college teacher, was born, brought up and educated in the north West of the city. I’m married to Margaret, a west end NHS Community Nurse.
Despite the challenging times we find ourselves with the cost-of-living crisis Kenton’s Labour Team continues to keep people informed, listening and working for residents all year round. We’ve prioritised the local environment by spending available cash on tackling litter, dog mess, fly-tipping and restoring green planters. With Ged and Paula, I’ve spoken up for Kenton, which is one of the most deprived wards in our city where 1 in 3 youngsters live in child poverty. That’s why I’ve supported the Welfare Rights Project, Citizens Advice and the local food bank who take food poverty. I’ve worked with the local neighbourhood police force, the EpiC team and Neighbourhood Wardens to tackle anti-social behaviour and low-level crime.
Kenton Labour is the only party to be here all year round and not just at election time. I’m asking for your vote so I can continue to work hard to make Kenton and our city a great place to live, study and work, despite the challenges we face.’’
