JOHN’S
Mark has worked with vulnerable adults for the last nine years in residential care settings. He grew up locally off Woodbridge Road, was educated at St. John’s Primary School, and worshipped at St. John’s Church, Cauldwell Hall Road – before embarking on a university degree in London.
He now regularly attends the United Reformed Church in Cowper Street and the Salvation Army in Woodbridge Road. Mark used to help his late father in his signwriting business across the area.
Mark says “My brother Edward has been a local councillor for the last five years, and I have helped him in his campaigning work for local residents. So I am very familiar with the important role that local Councillors have in confronting the issues that local residents face. Prior to my brother being elected in Bixley Ward, he was a regular activist and candidate here in St John’s Ward, which finally deserves the return of a Conservative councillor for the first time in many years.
I would be honoured to receive your vote and become your new representative.” Mark has done voluntary work including helping the hospital chaplaincy service since 2007. He put himself forward to be elected as a Foundation Governor for the Woodlands Unit, at the Suffolk and Norfolk NHS Foundation Trust.

EMPOWERING LOCAL GROUPS AND CHURCHES
We have lots of community groups and churches in St John’s Ward, and by attending some of them, Mark understands the important community work they do. Mark says “Councils can do nothing on their own. Working with these groups, together, we can help vulnerable and lonely people in the area.”
TACKLING HOSPITAL PARKING
Working with neighbouring Councillors in Bixley, Mark will try to address ongoing issue of hospital parking problems in our streets, to make it easier for residents to park in their own road. Mark will join these other Councillors in their regular meetings with hospital management.
IMPACT OF THE NEW ST. CLEMENT’S DEVELOPMENT
Mark wants to make sure that the residents of this new estate feel welcome to the area and that they feel part of the St John’s community. Mark will continue to monitor any problems which may arise with traffic and pressure on schools.
