Statement to voters
The election is now approaching, and I would apologise that I have not been able to personally meet you.
Full statement
Having considered the medical evidence as well as your safety and wellbeing I have not been out canvassing in the Ward, but I hope you have received my election material.
Many of you will know me as I have represented you as your Independent councillor for 16 years between 2001 and 2016 and as Deputy Mayor in 2015/16.
I have served the NHS for over 50 years and will have treated many of you as your family doctor in my surgery in Westborough Road.
I still continue to serve you at the Valkyrie Surgery as well as my wife, who is still working full time as an NHS nursing Sister.
I ran a care home for elderly and mentally ill citizens in the Westborough Ward for 25 over years employing over 15 local people at any one time.
I came to this country as an immigrant over 50 years ago and I am very proud to have given my all in serving YOU the community. I would now like to be given the chance to serve YOU again and represent YOU to the same standard, serving the residents of Westborough Ward, putting your views and concerns to the fore of local government.
Local elections are about local issues, and local people and I believe they should be free of political party involvement and we as Councillors should work together for and on behalf of the residents we represent.
I am standing as an Independent Councillor to enable me to serve YOU without the constraints of national party guidelines or local party policies, which will allow me to represent ALL the residents of Westborough Ward, irrespective of their political views.
2 seats are available in the election
Why put all your eggs in one basket?
This allows political parties dominate our local democracy.
VOTE INDEPENDENT
I promise:
• To be held to account by the communities and local residents
• To act with honesty, integrity and accountability
I am standing for election again as I know many of you may feel politically homeless in the current political climate, and may be disillusioned with our local politicians and the bureaucrats treating us with contempt, by not listening or respecting our views. I want real democracy and I feel for me as a local resident to do something about the issues that are happening within our town and be able to make a difference, which that is why I am standing for in Westborough Ward.
I want to devote all my time and energy into maintaining and improving the Ward and the town. I will, through working with residents, always make sure Westborough Ward is not forgotten.
I am committed to:
• Living in a safer community with more police on the streets
• Protecting Southend Hospital & Health provision from further cuts
• Fighting for Affordable Housing & Rents
• Improving the quality of our roads and footways
• Improving health and wellbeing for residents
• Protecting our green spaces
If elected I will be open, honest, hardworking and committed to working for the benefit of every resident in Westborough Ward.
