Statement to voters

Emily Brothers was Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Sutton and Cheam in the 2015 General Election and was a Labour London Assembly Candidate in 2016.

Full statement

Emily has campaigned against LibDem-Tory proposals to build on Rosehill Park, with an alternative vision for developing the area for recreation and environmental benefit. She has challenged Lib Dems about the chaos surrounding bin collections and street clutter.

Emily has supported the Labour London Mayor to improve local public transport services and safer roads, as well as advocating for Sutton Common Station to be upgraded and made more accessible. Emily has fought against Tory austerity and the complicity of Sutton LibDem in applying cuts to local services. She has pressed for better control and accountability of local public services, for instance, by delivering fit for purpose health provision.

Emily has substantial professional experience as a senior manager in both voluntary and public services. She led health and local government policy for the Equality and Human Rights Commission and has been at the heart of social justice reforms nationally for over 30 years, particularly for disabled people.
