Statement to voters

I am standing to give everyone who is feeling let down by the old parties the chance to vote Green in Bury South on May 4th.

Full statement

Green councillors like myself are bringing real hope and real change in local government across the UK. We are experienced and ready to step up on a national level, with honest, consistent policies that meet the scale of the challenges our country faces. If elected, I will work tirelessly for a fairer society and to protect our environment. I will be campaigning for more social and affordable housing, and insulation to give us warm, cosy, affordable homes while reducing our reliance on imported oil and gas. We need to put water companies back in public hands, so we can clean our rivers and protect our local area. And we need to make it cheap, safe and easy to get around by bus, bike and train - easing our traffic problems, saving us all money and keeping our air clean. We also know that more and more people are deeply concerned about the climate crisis. We talk to lots of young people who vote Green because we are the only ones who consistently put this at the top of the agenda. But we also talk to a lot of older people who are concerned about the impacts it will have on their children and grandchildren and are making the switch. Every vote for the Green Party sends a message that the climate isn’t an issue that can wait. It needs to be addressed now with a fair and affordable transition to the greener economy that can benefit everyone.
