Statement to voters

Before entering politics Darren served for 26 years in the Royal Air Force.

Full statement

He has always wanted to serve his community and moved from the military to politics. It has been the honour of his life to serve Broxtowe, he is proud of his record and is not done yet! He has secured £21.1 million for Stapleford, £16.5 million for Kimberley, a new banking hub, lifts for Beeston train station, new funding for 5 schools and so much more.

One of Darren’s proudest achievements was changing the law following a meeting with his constituent Aaron. The change ensures that if a woman dies in childbirth their partner will automatically qualify for leave no matter their period of employment - this was not previously the case. Aaron said of Darren: “Very few MPs can ever expect to achieve what Darren has managed or to set such a high standard for service to their constituents. I saw first-hand Darren demonstrating the utmost skill, integrity and determination while delivering a change to the law around parental leave in bereavement after I raised the issue with him. All the while he kept pushing a host of local issues which are clearly genuinely important to him - a constituent couldn't ask for better.”

Darren has two children and two dogs, Poppy and Pickle. He resides in Kimberley with his wife Caroline.
