Statement to voters

My name is Pamela Ashley and I am standing in Calver and Longstone as your Labour Party candidate, having been a resident of Derbyshire Dales for 4 years.

Full statement

Until then I was a Labour Councillor in Erewash and a member of the Labour Party for 40 years. I have had a career in education, teaching young people and also adults of all ages. I see education as transformative for people of all ages. Residents of Calver and Longstone deserve a councillor who will serve them.

These are some of my party’s priorities for Derbyshire Dales:

• to seek more affordable housing
• cleaner rivers
• addressing issues of nature decline and climate change through planning
• managing tourism
• supporting the farming community
• securing a banking hub for Bakewell

As your councillor I will work with the MP, Regional Mayor, Labour group, and my fellow councillors to deliver for Derbyshire Dales.
