Statement to voters
I have been a resident of High Wycombe since 1977, attending local schools and raising my family in this cherished community.
Full statement
My commitment to High Wycombe is evident in my decade-long service as a local councillor on Wycombe District Council and my candidacy for the Wycombe parliamentary seat in 2019 and 2024. I had the privilege of serving as the town’s Mayor in 2014/15 and have been a Parish Councillor since 2021. During the Covid pandemic, I helped establish a temporary food bank in a local church to support those in self-isolation. Alongside Trevor Snaith, I co-founded the Wycombe Food Hub, focusing on environmental protection while providing food and essentials to families in need. I am a vocal advocate for social justice and am dedicated to helping those who reach out to me.
Local Achievements
· I raised over £36,000 pounds for Diabetes UK and The Cardiomyopathy Association during my Mayoral tenure.
· I was the third man in history after Benjamin Disraeli and Winston Churchill to stand next to the famous Red Lion in the High Street to address the town as Mayor on market day.
· I worked closely with The Pastures church on a variety of projects including the delivery of a defibrillator.
· I supported fundraising efforts for new facilities at Disraeli School whilst I was a local councillor.
· I have been an active supporter of the WASPI campaign since 2017 and submitted a motion into Wycombe District Council for support.
· I have always championed the need to restore the A&E and Maternity Services in Wycombe Hospital.
· I was an active supporter of the ‘Save the Children Centres’ campaign led by local residents.
· Together with a local resident, I helped start the Disraeli Action for Road Safety group to promote traffic calming measures against speeding motorists.
· Together with ex Mayors, I collected over 5000 signatures to a trigger a community governance review in order to get a Town Council for High Wycombe.
· During Covid, along with Trevor Snaith, we started the ‘Sticky Bun Run’, where we distributed sweet treats to those that were self isolating. This initiative attracted the attention of Ross Kemp to feature us in a BBC documentary about helping others.
· During my mayoral tenure, I commissioned a permanent structure via Bucks New University students to commemorate the Windsor Chair
. I also help with WycombeSanta each year
