Full statement

Conservative Candidate for Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner

I served as a Bobby for 30 years retiring as Patrol Inspector, i.e., finishing as I started out – on the streets – working 3 shifts.

I am also a private citizen so I have lots of experience of the other side, looking to the Police for my family’s and my own safety and wellbeing.

I believe the professionalism of the Merseyside Police is admired round the country but it comes at a price, a tendency to move away from a direct connection to the communities they serve.

So, I am putting, balancing the “re-connecting” with the people of Merseyside, with applying the Forces innate professionalism at the at the heart of my plans for the Force.

Ensuring that the extra officers gained by the Force from the 20,000 being funded by this Government are spread evenly across the 5 Boroughs.

Ensuring that community groups who work to benefit us all in so many ways are properly supported including victim Support.

Expanding and properly utilising the willingness of our community to help directly, by involving and properly using the Special Constabulary.

My priority will always be to work to make Merseyside safer.

Prepared by Chris Hall on behalf of Bob Teesdale. Both of Southport Conservatives. 37/39 Shakespeare St. Southport PR8 5AB
