Statement to voters

I was born and brought up in Micklefield, went to Wycombe Marsh, Spring Gardens and Hatters Lane Schools.

Full statement

Spent the first part of my career working for Barclays Bank and then re-educated as a Computer Programmer at our local University. I am currently a manager of an I.T. support team. I have been the organiser of many successful campaigns such as the saving of our open air swimming pool and I am currently fighting to protect our beautiful Gomm Valley from excessive development. I oppose the plans for a bin tax in Wycombe as this service is already covered by our Council Tax. I back the campaign for a new Community Council for High Wycombe so that our town has a team of Councillors dedicated to support the regeneration of our town. I believe that Bucks Council needs to do much more in the fight against climate change. My ambition would be to help turn Bucks Council into the greenest Council in the UK. I am passionate about education and believe that every individual no matter what their upbringing should have the tools to become the very best that they can, at whatever age. I am very concerned about violent crime and believe that the cuts to policing has resulted in a police service unable to engage effectively with local communities. Our young people need safe and secure facilities that they can meet in with professional youth worker support available. We need to fix the roads and pavements for the long term and not use quick fixes that only last a few months. We need to focus efforts on making our roads safe for cyclists. Now that the pandemic has shown that home working is possible then we should re-evaluate how much office space is required and instead look at how we can replace some of these estates with new Council housing.
