Having worked in the state education sector, while always active in local community groups and as a member of the steering group of the emerging WN Climate and Nature Partnership, Clare has layers of experience of local government operation.

She lives in the ward and her family were brought up and went to school locally.
She studied Geography and Biology at university and has horticultural
qualifications. She has lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East and the
Seychelles. Her special interests are planning, education, climate and nature and
food security.
Clare believes in a foundation of well-resourced local public services for all and
that people should be able to contribute to the management of their
neighbourhoods.
The role of a councillor is to facilitate opportunities for the public to air views and
concerns and be listened to: “Public engagement via community conversations is
vital for a thriving democracy and ensures people aren’t left out. I want to hear
from you all.”
Public engagement with local issues brings a sense of ownership and
responsibility. Clare believes that local people often have very practical ideas for
solving local problems.
“I will listen and help with the organisation of any campaign to bring positive
change whether to install play equipment in Standen’s Barn or to support the
introduction of parking permits and speed reduction signs in Weston Favell and
Abington Vale, or to work with schools to safeguard children from excessive social
media influences.
I want to see all community groups growing and expanding their reach to be
inclusive and to build community self-worth for all residents. Together we can
sustain and manage a clean, safe and green place to live in.”
