Nigel Sweet is a retired emergency NHS ambulance clinician who was also a governor of the regional NHS ambulance Trust SECAmb, and a senior trade union official for UNISON.

Nigel was last on Adur Dictrict Council as Deputy Leader and Housing Committee Chair in 2000 when Labour held control for a short time. In a diverse working life, Nigel also worked for some years in the House of Commons as a political researcher for a Sussex Labour MP. He has been a wholefoods retailer and a design engineer in the microprocessor industry. In the Co-operative Movement, Nigel has held elected member roles regionally and nationally within The Co-op Group – formally the CWS.
