Statement to voters
I’ve lived in Worcester with my family for the last twenty-five years.
Full statement
I’m fortunate
enough to work from home. I work in IT focussing on the UK financial services
sector.
As your County Councillor, I will be a visible presence in the division.
I chair Worcester City’s Place and Economic Development committee, and I am on
the board of the Business Improvement District. We are fortunate to have a city
centre which is bucking the national trend, our High Street remains a popular
shopping destination.
As your County Councillor, I will campaign to ensure that Worcester is open
for business to all and is a safe and attractive tourist and shopping
destination.
As someone who is reliant on public transport to get around, the City’s traffic jams
are a daily problem. We need to take a different approach. Improving access to the
city centre will benefit everyone including the local economy.
As your County Councillor, making public transport and active travel both safe
and attractive will be a key priority. I will fight for improved public transport in
the city, and work within the council for an improved active travel network.
I am a governor at a city centre school for children with special educational needs.
Demand for school places far outstrips the available supply and as a result children
are forced to travel to distant private placements. Imagine the savings if the County
Council were to provide sufficient schooling closer to home.
As your County Councillor, I will fight for a better education provision for all
children and families.
I am committed to Westminster’s plans to simplify local government. I support a
solution which ensures that local voices are heard, and local needs met.
