Statement to voters
I’ve lived in the ward since 2012, when my wife and I got tired of the Parisian suburb, and decided to live abroad.
Full statement
We have never regretted this decision, and thoroughly enjoyed living here with our 3 children. One is now studying at the University of Portsmouth, another one in York, and the youngest is at the Bulmershe School.
I’m a software engineer, and have worked in several startups in Reading, but now commute to London every day - although I miss my 10-minute bicycle commute. I’m a keen cyclist, and we've been living car-free for 3 years. I'm also one of the organisers of Kidical Mass Reading: family-friendly bike rides in town, designed to increase families’ confidence in cycling together, and to highlight the need for better cycling infrastructure.
If elected, I will campaign to reduce the place of cars in the public space, and promote the use of walking, cycling or public transports. Cars are necessary, but the fewer there are, the happier we get! I will also protect and improve the green space, and support our amazing local, independent businesses. We all have a role to play to fight climate change. At our level, this is also simply to improve the life of people in the borough!
