James has lived in North Oxford for 40 years and was first elected to the City Council in 2012.
Full statement
In 2024 he won Walton Manor (half of the new division) with the largest majority in the whole city. He taught Economics at Magdalen College and chairs the City Finance, Budget and Audit committees. He chairs the St Margaret's Area Society, the Oxford Canal Festival and other local associations. He founded and still runs the North Parade Market, which coincides with his ward surgeries. Other local achievements include securing the funding to install electric charging points at the Canal moorings by Aristotle Lane, and for the full restoration, complete with drinking water, of the Walton Well Drinking Fountain, to be brought back in use by September 2025.
