Pat enlisted in the Army in Lincoln and served over 22 years seeing active service in the Falklands War and Bosnia.

He then joined Lincolnshire Police as a call taker and latterly as a Crime Intelligence Analyst. He has served Gainsborough as a Councillor for over 20 years an is now standing in the Gainsborough Hill Division. He was first elected to the County Council in 1999 and in four subsequent elections for the seat. He also won the Gainsborough North seat in 2007 for West Lindsey District Councillor and was at one time Deputy Leader of the Council. He contested the Grantham Parliamentary Seat in 2005 where he came third and the Gainsborough Parliamentary Seat in 2010 where he came second. He is currently a Gainsborough Town Councillor. Recent events have convinced him that fundamental reforms to politics and institutions are vitally necessary, which is why he is standing for Reform UK.
