Statement to voters

I'm Kevin McKenna and I'm standing to be your MP.

Full statement

I'm a nurse, and I'm proud to have worked in the NHS since qualifying in the late nineties. I've mostly worked on the front line of healthcare in hospitals, including as a Matron at NHS Nightingale London during the pandemic.

But I also have extensive experience working on nationwide NHS programmes, developing national strategy and policy for the NHS, including secondments working in Whitehall.

I am determined to overcome the challenges of poor access to services and worse health outcomes faced by everyone living in coastal communities like Sittingbourne and Sheppey. That's a big part of why I'm standing to be your MP.

I have recently moved to Sittingbourne to make my home here. The last few years have been tough for everyone and we need a fresh start in Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

After 14 years in government the Conservatives have delivered nothing but chaos – from Partygate to the Cost-of-Living Crisis, and every other new low point for the country in between.

As your MP, my priorities will be getting the NHS back on its feet, ensuring that people feel safe and secure again and making sure that everyone here sees the benefits of economic stability and growth that a Labour Government will bring.

You need to be able to pay your mortgages and bills rather than worry every month. We all need the NHS to function as well as it did under the last Labour Government. The country needs opportunities and hope for our young people.

We need change.
