Statement to voters

Dear Resident Following the retirement of the much-respected Cllr Rob Humby, it is my privilege to have been selected to stand as your Conservative candidate for the Bishop’s Waltham county division in the upcoming by-election.

Full statement

I live in the division, in Bramdean, with my wife and children, and after a 30 year career in business I have, for the last 2 1/2 years, proudly represented the Upper Meon Valley ward on Winchester City Council, which accounts for around half of the county division. Many of the issues affecting you are familiar to all of us across the wider Bishop’s Waltham area -speeding vehicles, flooding and sewerage problems, potholes, the threat of bus route cancellations and local tip closures are all burning issues. I believe in practical action to bring about change and so held a meeting with the County Council’s leader, Nick Adams-King, at Bishop’s Waltham tip to impress on him the need to save it from closure. There are many challenges ahead, but I feel passionate about where we live and work and will commit myself to making it a better place for all of us. I hope you will support me on 31st October. If you would like to raise any issue, then please get in touch. With very best wishes Neil
