Statement to voters

I have lived in Belper for 27 years, and my three children went to Belper High School where I was a Governor and Chair of the PTA.

Full statement

I worked as a teacher for
35 years and was SENCO in a Derbyshire primary school working with children
with special educational needs for the last 11 years of my career.

After retiring I was elected as a Belper Town Councillor for four years. I was the
Deputy Mayor in 2019/20 and I continue to serve as a trustee, committee
member and chair for a number of local charities and organisations. I strongly believe in the value of local services provided by a democratically elected authority—
not closure, privatisation and outsourcing. I have been a steadfast campaigner against the closure and sale of Babington Hospital and to keep Ada Belfield as a publicly owned care home.

I am Chair of Fleet Arts and a Trustee of the Blue Box charity, as well as being a founder member of Belper Zero Waste.
